轉基因生物對人類健康的影響，正在引發持續不斷的激烈爭論。Chipotle等大型連鎖餐廳日前正式禁止使用轉基因原料。許多國家和地區也發布了轉基因禁令，或者對種植這類作物施以嚴格的限制，其中包括俄羅斯、意大利托斯卡納區、包括德國在內的多個歐盟國家、菲律賓、沙特阿拉伯，以及澳大利亞塔斯馬尼亞島。

The decision to restrict genetically altered crops is up to each local or regional council in the country. In the case of Tuscany, the decision to ban GMOs was ratified by the national government. Rome, Milan, Turin, Brescia and Genoa have all banned genetically engineered crops, as well. |
