(transitive verb) To criticize or ridicule someone or something by making them appear stupid, inferior, or useless.

EXAMPLE: The arrogant manager would deride the suggestions of his employees and complain about their stupidity.

這位傲慢的經理嘲笑員工的建議，抱怨他們愚蠢。
