老舊的（形容詞）

(adjective) Describing something that remains in use but is quite old and now functioning poorly.

EXAMPLE: In the tailor's tiny shop there was an antiquated sewing machine that he operated by rhythmically pumping his feet.

這位裁縫的小店里有一臺老舊的縫紉機，他要通過有節奏地踩踏板來操作它。

Describing something in a period of change; not yet permanent. (NOTE: do not confuse with the noun “influx” meaning the arrival of a large group of people or things)

EXAMPLE: Because our new president fired several important managers and has not replaced them, our whole company is currently in flux, and day-to-day operations are not going well.
