????穆罕默德?坎特：用科技回報祖國

????從本月開始，馬里首都巴馬科的30名四年級和五年級學生就得努力學習了——因為他們將成為iNERDE的營員。iNERDE是默罕默德?坎特創建的一個暑期項目，旨在為自己的祖國帶來科學、技術、工程與數學（STEM）教育機會。坎特于2003年移民到美國，取得了東北大學（Northeastern University）的電子工程學學位。在東北大學，坎特和幾位同學共同為殘疾人研發出一款用眼睛控制的機械喂食手臂。他希望自己祖國的孩子們同樣能夠學會如何利用科學技術解決社區中的問題。坎特說，在非洲，“科學技術才是我們的未來。”

????Starting this month, 30 fourth- and fifth-graders in Bamako, Mali, will get to be total nerds—that is, campers at iNERDE, the summer program Mohamed Kante founded to bring STEM education opportunities to his native country. Kante immigrated to the U.S. in the summer of 2003 and earned a degree in electrical engineering from Northeastern University. It was at Northeastern where Kante and a few classmates developed an eye-controlled robotic feeding arm for people with disabilities. Similarly, he wants kids back home to learn how they can use science and tech to solve problems in their community. Throughout Africa, says Kante, “technology is our future.”
