1963 Pontiac Catalina ????Pillarless hardtops or hardtop convertibles, which omitted the roof support behind the front door, were designed to look like a convertible with the top raised. Some, like this Pontiac, took the convertible look even further, shaping the roof to resemble a raised canvas top. Safety concerns and manufacturing difficulties with new unibody assembly spelled the end of the pillarless hardtop style by 1978. |
