????Mark it down on your calendar: June 22 is the date when Tesla is due to begin deliveries of its Model S sedan. Unlike its Roadster, which was adapted from a Lotus design, the battery-powered Model S is all new from the ground up and built by Tesla in an old General Motors plant. Tesla says it plans to deliver 5,000 Model S's by the end of the year. It will need to in order to dig out of a deep financial hole: a first-quarter net loss of $89.9 million on revenue of only $30.2 million. Investors will be watching closely. With its share price propped by favorable analyst recommendations, Tesla has a market cap of $3.6 billion.
